Mission Zimbabwe:
Mhoroi! That's hello in Shona or Chishona, one of the languages spoken in Zimbabwe, which is where you, Peter Packet, are headed as a packet. You have been selected to help out in an emergency situation.
- To make sure you know where Zimbabwe is, go to the University of Texas Map Collection
and search for a good map of Zimbabwe and for Africa to pinpoint its location.
- Go directly to the Peter Packet. Select "Play Game". Decide whether you consider yourself a beginner or an advanced player. Choose Beginner is you aren't an expert at video games; choose advanced if you have lots of video-game experience.
- Select Zimbabwe and accept the mission. Follow the program carefully as you
are given mission details and enter the server. The program will stop on a screen
that begins, "When you surf the web from home. Do not, under
any circumstances press "skip" or "next" ? yet!
- It is time to enter data in your Mission Journal. Record the time and list the
details of your mission. Note where you will begin, why there is teacher shortage in
Zimbabwe, what information your packet must include, and what you need to accomplish.
- Continue through the program until you uncover a screen that begins with
"Hint. Good luck and remember." This is a good place to stop and add the next
entries in your Mission Journal. Be sure to include data about the Internet and
its dangers.
- Use the Cheat Sheet to help you complete your mission.
- Press play and see if you can get your packet through quickly. If you drop
your packet too many times, you'll need to start over. The computer will take
you to the correct starting point.
- Stop when you receive congratulations for your work in the server. Do not go
on to the Router section until you have the details for that mission.
- Complete your Mission Journal for your travel through the server making sure
to jot down significant information that can be used to help other packets travel
safely through the server. Explain "Ndeipi" ? that's Shona/Chishona for "What's up?"
- Take a well-deserved vacation to rest before the Router Race begins. Tichaonana! (Go well!)
