Packet Riders Instructional Materials Fun with Crafts Using Decal Paper to Transfer Images
Using Decal Paper to Transfer Images

Club members can use clear decal paper to attach Packetville images to objects made of plastic, wood, ceramic, metal, and other materials. Decal paper can be found online or at office supply stores.

Have your members select an image or several images from the Character section of Packetville, which is located on the Activities page.

Club members can use photo-editing programs such as Adobe PhotoShop Elements® to create designs they like from the images. The designs can also include the club name.

If you don't have a photo-editing program, the images can be inserted into a paint program such as Kid Pix® or a word processing program such as Microsoft Word® or AppleWorks®. Word processing programs don’t offer as much flexibility in design, but these programs work well for resizing images.

Instruct club members to make sure their designs will fit on the objects they select. Some good ideas for objects are plastic cups or wooden boxes. To test the size, they should print their designs on regular paper and then examine the printout. If they change their designs, they should print the updated designs on regular paper again, to avoid wasting the decal paper.

If there are words in their design, be sure to check the spelling before they print them.

Once their designs are ready, show club members how to insert decal paper into a printer. Make sure they follow the directions on the decal package for printing and transferring designs to their objects.
